FAS Goals and Objectives

Goals:

Replace the existing CUFS financial system and the Human Resource "in-house" legacy system with a new integrated ERP system that:

  1. Runs in a vendor-supported, mainstream environment
  2. Utilizes mainstream, contemporary technologies
  3. Meets Texas State’s internal and external reporting and data requirements
  4. Optimizes the utilization of university resources
  5. Enhances customer satisfaction
  6. Improves access to and quality of management information


Objectives:

  1. Enable continuous process improvements and provide for dynamic business practices
  2. Allow easier aggregation of financial and human resource data into centrally supported data sources
  3. Provide for improved access to and ad hoc reporting of financial and human resource data
  4. Support the use of decision support systems such as analysis, modeling, and forecasting
  5. Reduce the need for shadow systems
  6. Maximize the viability, life expectancy, and return on investment of the application
  7. Implement the new system upon the foundation of the previously selected enterprise RDBMS, Oracle
  8. Preserve/enhance integration with other core business systems (e.g. SARS and the student system) throughout the project life cycle
  9. Provide timely financial information (as appropriate) in a more easily understood and accessible form to the campus community
